Athena City Accolade

Athena City Accolade is given by the Centre for the Future of Places at KTH to distinguished scholars with substantial body of work that have during the scope of their career expanded, enriched and advanced the field of interdisciplinary knowledge within urbanism studies and beyond.

The CFP Athena City Accolade has been given to:

Professor Rachelle Alterman

for her outstanding contributions to the field of comparative planning law, land use regulation, comparative land policy and property rights, housing policy, planning theory and method and to urban planning in general

Professor Steffen Lehman

for his outstanding contributions to the field of sustainable architecture and urbanism, green urban design, sustainable urban development, city planning & design, urban entrepreneurship and architecture and urbanism in general

Ali Mandanipour

Professor Ali Mandanipour

for his outstanding contributions to the field of design, development and management of cities, urban design, space and society, planning theory, social logic of space, the theory of urban design and urbanism in general

Professor Matthew Carmona

for his outstanding contributions to the field of urban design and regeneration, public space design and management, governance of design and public realm, urban planning, the theory of urban design and urbanism in general

Professor Folke Snickars


for his outstanding contributions to the field of urban and regional studies, urban economic theory and policy, transport studies, metropolitan development, and regional science in general.

Professor Robert Cervero

for his outstanding contribution to the field of urban and regional planning, transport science, sustainable transportation policy and planning and land use planning at the Institute of Urban and Regional Development, UC Berkeley College of Environmental Design

Professor Richard Florida

for his outstanding contribution to the field of urban economics, city planning and management, urban policy and governance. As well as urbanism in general at the Martin Prosperity Institute at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto.
