The course comprises approximately 260 full-time study hours, whereof 20 hours of lectures and tutorials, 80 hours of seminars, in addition to self-studies.
FCK3320 Communicating Science in Organic Chemistry 10.0 credits
The aim of the course is to give graduate students the practical skills to plan, conduct, analyze and present, both orally and in written form. The participants are expected to get an integrated understanding of the general principles for writing a scientific research proposal and how to communicate science efficiently.

Course contents
In this course, the participants are expected to develop their proficiency in:
- writing a scientific research proposal - outlining, drafting, and revising
- peer reviewing of other course participants' texts
- preparing and effectively conveying scientific results through oral presentations
Intended learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course the doctoral student should have the knowledge and ability to:
- identify good scientific style and text structure
- apply the knowledge in scientific writing and research methodology to write a scientific research proposal within the specialized subject area of the course
- prepare and deliver an oral presentation that clearly explains a project within the own subject area
- critically review one's own and others' scientific texts and oral presentations through constructive criticism on, for example, content, text structure, and sentence structure, as well as apply criticism in the revision of one's own texts and oral presentations

Eligible for studies at the third-cycle level.
To be able to profit from the course the graduate student should have taken one of the courses KD2310, KD2390 or CE2385, or should have acquired the equivalent knowledge elsewhere.

Based on recommendation from KTH’s coordinator for disabilities, the examiner will decide how to adapt an examination for students with documented disability.

Other requirements for final grade
Active participation in 80% of the seminar sessions, which includes presenting and actively participating in discussions of scientific work.
