ED2247 Project in Fusion Research 9.0 credits

The goal of the course is to give the student practical experience of working with tasks relevant for fusion research, such as preparing, conducting and analysing fusion-relevant experiment, modelling processes relevant for fusion research, analyse simulations, or develop simulation tools. A studen may only be admitted to the course after approval by examiner. Admittance to the course is subject to availability of project and supervisors. The student must therefore first establish contact with the division and be assigned a supervisor.

Content and learning outcomes

Course contents

The course includes a project relevant for fusion research. The project can include:

  • design and carrying out fusion relevant experiments
  • analysis of data from fusion relevant experiments or computer simulations
  • carrying out fusion relevant computer simulations 
  • development of models and softwares that are relevant for fusion research

Intended learning outcomes

After passing the course, the student should be able to

  • carry out one or more typical tasks in fields relevant for fusion research
  • formulate a realistic objective for a time limited task
  • follow up the work and document it.

Specific prerequisites

Knowledge in plasma physics, 6 higher education credits, equivalent completed course EF2200/ED2200/ED2210/ED2240.
