Announcement: Award for best MSc thesis project in the energy field Students! Supervisors! ¶

The question of energy and the environment is getting more and more important. In regards to that KTH and Vattenfall is cooperating to find this year’s best MSc thesis project in the energy field! Vattenfall has donated a sum of 40000 SEK for this award.¶

The winner will be presented at KTH Energy Dialogue* the 22th of November. ¶

Who can apply?All KTH-registered students who have completed their MSc thesis project (approved by supervisor) between 1th of October 2011 and 15th of October 2012 can apply for this scholarship. The thesis project should have a clear connection to the energy field but can treat virtually any aspect within the field. Students must apply with their own thesis project.¶

How do I apply?Apply by going to KTH Social https://www.kth.se/social/group/the-vattenfall-energ/. Instructions on how to apply will be found there. The summary is a presentation composed of 3 slides plus a title page (4 in total).¶

The summary should contain:¶


* Your name, e-mail address, and degree program (use five-character abbreviation as shown on My pages)
* Name and e-mail address of project supervisor
* Description of your rapport
* Answer the question: How has your research contributed to solve a problem that exists in the world or in society?
Deadline?The summary must be submitted by the 1th of November.¶

How is the entry judged?The entry is judged by three criteria, each evaluated on a 10-point scale (30 points total)¶


* Design (1-10p)

* Lay Out
* Presentation
* Level of communication. Concrete? Easy to understand for general audience? Easy to re-tell? Good argumentation/explanation?

* Impact (1-10p) how much will the proposed method contribute to the challenge of creating a sustainable energy system?
* Novelty (1-10p) how original is the proposed method?
How is the winner selected?The jury that selects the winner will consist of four professors from KTH and a representative from Vattenfall. In the first round only the summaries will be judged, and the students submitting the top entries will be asked to submit their full thesis reports.¶

When will I know if I won?The winner will be informed via email the 15th of November at the latest.¶

When will I get the scholarship?The prize will be presented at the KTH Energy Dialogue* on November 22¶

* The KTH Energy Dialogue, hosted by the Energy Platform, is KTH’s annual event aimed at profiling the wide range of energy-related research being conducted in our various schools and programmes. The Energy Dialogue is designed to promote inter-disciplinary collaboration while strengthening the sense of community within the Platform.
