Knowledge and understanding
For a Master's Degree, the student shall
- demonstrate knowledge and understanding within the programme's main area, including both broad knowledge within the area and substantially deeper knowledge of certain parts of the area, as well as in-depth insight into current research and development work, and
- demonstrate in-depth methodological knowledge within the programme's main area.
Skill and ability
For a Master's Degree, the student shall

demonstrate the ability to critically and systematically integrate knowledge and to analyse, assess and deal with complex phenomena, questions and situations, even with limited information,
- demonstrate the ability to critically, independently and creatively identify and formulate questions, plan and carry out advanced tasks within predetermined time frames using appropriate methods thereby contributing to the development of knowledge, and evaluate this work,
- demonstrate the ability to clearly present, orally and in writing, and discuss their conclusions and the knowledge and arguments that form the basis for these, in dialogue with different groups, both in a national and an international context
- demonstrate the skill required to participate in research and development work or to work independently in other advanced contexts.
Judgment and approach
For a Master's Degree, the student shall
- demonstrate the ability, within the programme's main area, to make assessments while taking into account relevant scientific, social and ethical aspects, and demonstrate awareness of ethical aspects of research and development work,
- demonstrate insight into the opportunities and limitations of the branch of science, its role in society and the responsibility of human beings for how it is used, and
- demonstrate the ability to identify their need of further knowledge and to take responsibility for their knowledge development.
