Hi Petter
I was under the impression people found a workaround and/or solved it.
Did the suggestions under https://www.kth.se/social/course/MF2042/page/atmel-studio-crashes/ work for you?
Also, there is a computer having power issues next to the windows. I don't know who the appropriate person to contact is...
I hate to sound like a crybaby, but the crashing is actually acceptable compared to libraries not syncing, atmel-defined functions that makes weird shit and the fact that you have to go through 3-4 boards before you find one that still has all peripherals working. But, i also understand from your side that its very time consuming to maintain.. however for next year (if there is no software update) i would say that the assignment would become MUCH easier (in execution) if they are at register level instead of being based on whatever someones 5 year old son at atmel wrote on a sunday morning!
Myles! To make it easier to find, can you give me the number of the computer (It is written on the screen) with the power issues? Which of the two labs? Also, what "power issues" does it have? Does it even start, or is it just dead?
Petter! Also there, it would help if you can describe the problem so we can fix. (Feel free to email too).
What is the "weird shit" being done bu the functions? I get the impression you think the drivers from Atmel are buggy? Are you sure you are choosing the correct one for the board we have?
For broken boards, please mark them with a description of the problem so that we can deal with them and/or take them out of circulation. Please make sure a note is somehow fixed physically, so that it does not get loose.
I am actually heading out on some travel for the weekend, so I can't get you the exact numbers. maybe one of the other students can. It is in the lab closer to the entrance of the building (I don't know name off the top of my head). If you are looking at the windows once you walk in the lab, there are four computers "against" the windows. Its the second from the left. Once the computer is plugged in, the front indicator turns red and it starts yelling at you. It reminds me of when you unplug a UPS. I didn't troubleshoot beyond a attempting a few 'Norwegian resets', but seeing as computers have been in high demand as of late, would be nice to fix this. Thanks!
I appreciate all feedback we can get. Of course, the more concrete the better we can help.
Please take the opportunity tomorrow during the lab sessions to mention any specific hardware and software problems you have to the lab assistants. This will gives us a very good picture of the size of the issues (if any) you are facing.
Can someone PLEASE update the software in the labs. It is the most unstable IDE in the world. Completely worthless!!
