The KTH servers

In order to be able to login and work on the servers you need SSH and OpenAFS.

SSH

I will not write a tutorial for you how to install SSH since it will differ from system to system. My guess is that you already have SSH installed if you have used github for sharing code.  If you set it up properly you should be able to add your own public key to the .ssh directory of you remote file system and thus be able to login.

OpenAFS

If you know how to run editors like Emacs or Vim you can run the editors directly in the terminal. If you would rather use your own editor on your laptop you can install OpenAFS and mount your KTH file system on your laptop. The way to do this is different for Windows and MacOS but you will find several tutorials online. In order for OpenAFS to access the KTh file servers you will also need Kerberos wich will take care of the handshaking and exchange of cryptographic keys.

Once you have OpenAFS up and running  you will see your KTH folders on your local machine. This means that you can edit them locally and immediately run them on the server that you're logged in to.
