Examination

Examination consist of a regular written exam. To the exam you will be able to bring one by you handwritten A4 page of notes (yes both sides).

If you receive a FX on the exam, arrange a time with me and be prepared to explain (not memorize) the correct answers to all the basic questions.  This need to be done within six weeks from the date that the grade was presented.

The exam for the HT19 course will change format to better match the updated course description. The  course description reads:

Having passed the course, the student should be able to:

  • explain how multi-threaded processes are structured
  • explain how an operating system can handle several processes at the same time
  • implement parts of the functions of an operating system.

For higher grades, the student should also be able to:

  • explain how virtualisation of memory is implemented
  • explain how memory management is implemented
  • explain properties for different scheduling algorithms
  • explain properties for different types of process communication
  • explain implementation of more advanced file system.

The exam will now be divided into two sections, the first for passing the course and the second for obtaining higher grades. A template of the new format will be uploaded shortly. All previous exams are still highly relevant.
