Info: Title: Signal processing for underwater applications Abstract: The Swedish Defence Research Agency, FOI, is the leading research institute in Sweden for underwater applications. We deal, for example, with acoustic and electromagnetic wave propagation, sensor technology and signal processing, underwater communications, submarine design, measurement techniques and sea trials, and underwater noise and its effects on marine life. In this talk, we will focus on signal processing of acoustic signals, discussing some problems when applied to signals in Swedish littoral waters. We will give some examples of current work as well as previous work, such as diver detection, how to use passive sparse arrays for range estimation, and how to track vessels using deployable sensor nodes.
