Research Title: Real-Time Wide-Area Damping Control using Synchrophasor Technology

The goal of this project is to develop control methods for improving the damping of inter-area oscillations by means of power system stabilizers (PSS) using measurements from the phasor measurement units (PMU). These control methods will be highly relevant as power grids are expanding to handle large power transfers. To achieve control over wide-spread geographical regions, the use of time-synchronized PMU measurements is considered as a key enabler.

Yuwa received her B.Sc. degree in Electrical Power Engineering from Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT), Thailand, in 2006. She then pursued her Master study on the topic Solid Oxide Fuel Cell at the Graduate School of Energy Science, Kyoto University, Japan. After completing the degree in 2009, she came to Sweden and is currently a PhD student with the Electric Power Systems (EPS) Division, at Royal Institute of Technology, KTH.
