Om mig

Since August 2020 Vasiliki has been an Assistant Professor at the IT University of Copenhagen in Denmark, in the Digital Design department. Before moving to Denmark she was a postdoctoral researcher and teacher in the Interaction Design research group at the MID department at KTH. She was part of the Soma Design research group and the Implicit Interaction project.

She received her Ph.D. degree in January 2018 at the department of Media Technology and Interaction at KTH, which is part of the EECS School. She also did her PhD at the Mobile Life VINN Excellence Centre, in the Arts & Crafts project. Her PhD dissertation is titled "Making Preciousness: Interaction Design Through Studio Crafts"

Research interests: Soma Design, Hybrid Crafting, Digital Craftsmanship, Wearable Technology, Materiality, Design research; Biodata

During her PhD studies (2012-2018) at the Interaction Design group at KTH and the Arts & Crafts project at Mobile Life Centre, she was involved in projects at the intersection of physical craft practices and interaction design, aiming at the design of interactive things. She has been studying -both theoretically and practically- the concepts of impermanence, longevity, obsolescence and preciousness for the domain of interaction design. During her postdoc in the Soma Design research group she was exploring new research methods for designing interactive technologies, starting from the soma and the aesthetics of movement and interaction.

Background: Before starting her Ph.D. she worked at HyperWerk Institute for Post Industrial Design in Basel. In 2011 she graduated from the Aegean University in Greece, from the Department of Product and Systems Design Engineering (DPSD), located in Hermoupolis, Syros island, with a specialization in Interaction Design. During her studies in Syros, she received an Erasmus studies scholarship for studying six months at Weissensee School of the Arts in Berlin, at the department of Textile and Surface Design, and six months at Köln International School of Design (KISD), in Cologne in Germany.
