About me

Since September 2022, I have been a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Mathematics of the School of Engineering Sciences at KTH Stockholm. I work in the research group of Sandra Di Rocco, and our group is a member of the international consortium AlToGeLiS.

From December 2019 to August 2022, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Mathematics and Systems Analysis of Aalto University, Finland. I worked in the research group of Kaie Kubjas.

In March 2020, I obtained my Ph.D. in mathematics at the University of Firenze, Italy, under the supervision of Giorgio Ottaviani. My thesis topic was studying the distance function from the algebraic set of partially-symmetric rank-one tensors.

I got my mathematics degree as well as my Master's degree at the University of Trieste, Italy, where I worked on linear sections of Grassmannians of lines.

I am member of GNSAGA of Italian INdAM.

My research subject is Applied Algebraic Geometry, and I like to investigate its connections to Data Science. My favorite objects of study are determinantal varieties and varieties of low-rank tensors. A natural problem I enjoy is finding the closest low-rank tensor to a given data tensor, known as the "best low-rank approximation problem." More generally, I want to optimize a specific objective function over a feasible set that can be described by polynomial relations and investigate all various questions related to such problems.
