About me

About me:

I studied chemistry at KTH Royal institue of technology, and graduated as a Master of science in chemistry and chemical engineering 2011. During my studies I spent one year as an exchange student in Paris, at ENSCP Chimie Paris.

I started my PhD studies in 2011, with the main focus on health and environmental aspects of nanoparticles.

Research interests:

In my studies I try to correlate surface characterization, reactivity and stability of metal nanoparticles with their bioaccessibility and toxicological effects. We are exposed to an increasing amount of metal containing nanoparticles in the society today, for example in the use of daily consumer products such as impregnated sports clothes, in which silver nanoparticles are often incorporated. Consequently, it is essential to look into the potential health hazards these particles may induce. The metal release from the particles into different synthetic body fluids is studied as well as chemical speciation of the released metals, particle surface charge, particle size and stability/agglomeration behaviour in solution, surface composition etc. These parameters are then used to try to understand the toxicity of the particles. This is an interdisciplinary and multianalytical research approach within the frame of the Stockholm Particle Group, a collaboration project between KTH, KI and SU. My supervisors are Inger Odnevall WallinderEva Blomberg and Jonas Hedberg
