Polysaccharides are the most abundant renewable ressources. They can be chemically modified to change and tune their properties for a wide range of applications.

Due to the polyfunctionality of polysaccharides various patterns of substituents can be established, which beside the average degree of substitution (DS) are of great importance for the properties of the material.

The research of my group is aimed to method development for the detailed analysis of such substituent pattern on different structural levels. The focus is on carbohydrate chemistry, mass spectrometry, chromatography and capillary electrophoresis.
