Maniewski’s past projects include additive manufacturing and 3D printing, optical measurements, fiber sensors, specialty fibers, and fiber-based microfluidic diagnostic tools.

His current activities pioneered powder-based additive manufacturing of silica glass – a unique worldwide technology for fast prototyping of various optical components and specialty fibers. He is reciepient of the 3D Printing Award accounced at SPIE Photonics West 2026 in San Francisco, USA.

Maniewski is authored over 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals and contibutions to international conferences. He received multiple ‘Best Poster Awards’ (IEEE). His articles were also selected as feature covers (Journal of the American Ceramic Society & Optica), and selected for the prestigious editor curated series ‘Spotlight on Optics’ featuring high-quality articles interesting for broaded audience, published by Optica (formerly Optical Society of America).

Maniewski recieved of a Postdoc Grant by Vetenskaprådet (Swedish Research Council) and multiple early-career research grants.
