About me

Matti Kaulio is Professor of Industrial Management with specialization in Leadership and Organization at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. His research addresses contemporary managerial and leadership challenges at the intersection of management and technology, with a focus on innovation, project management, and operations management. He conducts close-to-practice research using methods such as critical incident technique, case studies, and design science research. 

Matti has published in journals such as Creativity and Innovation ManagementEuropean Management Review,International Journal of Operations and Production ManagementInternational Journal of Project ManagementJournal of Management and OrganizationProject Management Journal and R&D Management

He holds an M.Sc. in Engineering Physics and a Ph.D. in Technology Management and Economics, both from Chalmers. During 2014–2015, he was a visiting professor at Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI). Matti has extensive experience in academic leadership. As Head of the Department of Industrial Economics and Organization (2016–2019), he developed the department's research focus, increased internationalization, and restructured its organizational units.
