Researcher at the Centre for Naval Architecture (part time)

Also Professor in Systems Science for Defence and Security at the Swedish Defence University.

Research areas

The research is focused on two interconnected fields where one deals with risk and risk-based decision support in high risk activity in general and the other is focused on how to create maritime safety and security. The research therefore includes:

  • Risk Management and Operational Analysis
  • Maritime Safety, Security and Protection as well as Maritime Infrastructure Resilience
  • Ship Dynamics and Intact Stability
  • Risk Governance, Risk Perception and Risk Communication

Academic and professional assignments

Responsible for the courses Ship Design (SD2721, 9.0 credits) and Introduction to Marine Technology (SD2725, 6.0 credits).

Former Program Director for the Master's Programme in Naval Architecture and for the Master's programme in Maritime Engineering (Joint Nordic Five Tech programme).

Background

Docent in Military-Technology (from Swedish Defence University) and Ph.D. in Shipping and Marine Technology (from Chalmers University of Technology) and M.Sc. degree in Naval Architecture (from Royal Institute of Technology). More than twenty years of experience as an engineer and lecturer at the Swedish Defence University, the Royal Institute of Technology, Chalmers University of Technology and the Defence Materiel Administration.

Driven by a genuine interest in boats and ships and has experience from many years of sailing and power boat driving. Experience also include certificates and training such as military exercises with the Royal Swedish Navy; maritime security exercise with the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority; Volunteer rescue crew, Swedish Sea Rescue Society; Certificate of competence for deck officer class VIII; Certificate of proficiency for fast crafts; international staff exercises for peace support operations; Ship’s mechanic’s examination certificate for motorships; and military conscript service in the Royal Swedish Navy.
