Om mig
Kaung studied B.Sc. in Materials Science and Engineering at Lehigh University, USA. During his studies, he was involved in different research ranging from biomaterials, electroplating, to dissimilar metal welding.
He then acquired M.Sc. in Management and Innovation at Technical University of Munich, Germany. He worked with multi-material additive manufacturing, using Directed Energy Deposition (DED) with a plasma arc as the heat source. During his time in Germany, he did internships in Computer Vision and Venture Capital.
Currently, he is working in the EU funded Green Steel project under Assistent Professor Alain Reiser, where he is building EU's first Laser-induced Particle Impact Testing (LIPIT) lab for the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. LIPIT studies materials under high strain rates ~10^6 by propelling material particles ~1km/sec. The data generated is fundamental to processes such as metal cutting, hard-particle erosion, materials processing and manufacturing.
Kaung is highly interested in and is always open for coffee to talk/brainstorm about
- startups, and innovation within B2B segments
- climate technology, bio-based alternatives, and sustainability
- fish, poisson, fisk, Fisch, 鱼, ငါး
In his free-time, Kaung loves learning languages, meddling with things, and building startups. He has won several competitions and awards in Germany, and has built 2 self-sustaining startups in Myanmar.
Master students, feel free to email me with interests, CV, recommendation letters, and send some time suggestions for master thesis projects. There is always something that can be developed in the LIPIT Lab.
