I am a PhD student in computational mathematics, under the supervision of Elias Jarlebring. My research within numerical linear algebra is focused on developing methods for computing matrix functions—such as the matrix exponential and the matrix sign function—of large and dense matrices. In particular, I develop efficient evaluation schemes for polynomial and rational approximations. The approach is based on finding the best possible approximation given a fixed number of non-scalar operations.
