Francesco is a PhD student at the Division of Transport Planning. His research focuses on applying quantitative methods to explore the potential of rail-air integration in the long-distance market in Europe. His work is focused on the network and behavioural facets of the question striving to provide insights into the implications for the transport market and its sustainability. The outcomes aim to contribute to the definition of evidence-informed policy measures targeted at limiting the greenhouse gas emissions of the long-distance transport sector.
Francesco obtained a MSc in Transport, Infrastructure and Logistics from the TU Delft (2022) with a thesis entitled “The Connectivity of the Long-distance Rail and Air Transport Networks in Europe”. He holds a BSc in Urban Planning from the Politecnico di Milano (2020). Before joining KTH, Francesco held an internship as a transport consultant at Ecorys, working on different European Commission projects related to rail.
