Elmira Yadollahi

I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow here at KTH since October 2021. I am part of the division of Robotics, Perception and Learning (RPL) in the Social Robotics group. Previously, I completed my PhD in a joint program between Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) in Portugal and École Polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland. I conducted my doctoral research in the CHILI lab working with Prof. Pierre Dillenbourg and GAIPS group working with Prof. Ana Paiva. I am a mechanical engineer by training with an MSc and BSc from KAIST in South Korea and the Sharif University of Technology in Iran.

My research is mainly focused on exploring the different cognitive processes and interaction modalities involved in human-robot interaction. This includes investigating the required processes, developing them in robots and agents, and studying the influences the robot and agents have on humans interacting with them. So far, I have predominantly worked with children interacting with robots and developing the robots' cognitive abilities in child-robot interaction and education.  

My current research is focused on understanding and developing explainability in robots and autonomous vehicles using state of the art research in XAI and XAIP (XAI in Planning).
