About me

My current research focuses on investigating sustainable solutions for the eutrophication problem in the Baltic Sea by aiming both remediation and phosphorus and metal recovery with bioengineering approaches using microorganisms as well as treating eutrophic marine waters via wetland systems.

I had my bachelors and Masters degree in the Department of Environmental Engineering from Middle East Technical University (Turkey). I finished my PhD studies (2019) in Department of Environmental Engineering , Hacettepe University (Turkey). My PhD research focused on effect of enzymatic pretreatment on biogas production from microalgae.

My research interests are phosphorus removal and recovery from marine sediment, anaerobic digestion, biomass pretreatment, and citizen science for water quality monitoring.
