About me
I've a degree in Applied Physics from The University of Strathclyde and a PhD from The University of Edinburgh's Faculty of Science and Engineering.
I bring over 20 years of international experience and skills in research and innovation management - from research positions in universities and industry as well as via roles involving managing research and innovation in companies and research financing organisations.
At KTH's Department of Materials Science and Engineering, my research interest is collaborative innovation processes, which I undertake from the perspective of a practitioner that manages centres and research initiatives:
- As Manager for the Center for X-Rays in Swedish Materials Science (CeXS), I’m developing and leading initiatives that are streamlining high energy x-ray research processes as well as engaging more researchers and companies to make better use of high energy x-ray facilities for materials research and innovation.
- For the Research Initiative on Sustainable Industry and Society (IRIS), during 2021, I worked as the Programme Manager in order to establish organisational structures and practices for strengthening interdisciplinary research across KTH's School of Industrial Engineering and Management.
- From September 2023, I'm setting up the Green Steel for a Fossil-Free Future initiative, which will take radical research approaches to the design of processes and steels so that these are intrinsically fossil-free as well as circular.
- Organising for innovation is my role in the new national competence centre, NEutron and X-ray science for industrial Technology transitions (NEXT). The 24 partners in NEXT will co-create materials innovations for enabling sustainable industry transitions – using large scale neutron and synchrotron infrastructures (LSIs) as an enabling technology.
