About me
I'm the PAD for the Physics department.
My research is centered around quasicrystals: exotic solid state materials which are neither periodic, nor random. An illustration is provided below, showing a sevenfold rotation symmetry long thought forbidden in crystalline systems. What's fun (or frustrating) is that most of the methods used in solid state physics aren't applicable to quasicrystals, so there are still a lot of things left to learn and discover in this field!
