I am a PhD student in Unit of Hultgren Laboratory for Materials Characterisation. My PhD project is about using in-situ Synchrotron X-ray Diffraction to study martensitic transformation in advanced steels. The experimental data will be later connected with thermodynamics-based model predict the martensitic transformation behavior.

High-energy synchrotron X-ray diffraction is a powerful method to study microstructural evolution in-situ. The detailed understanding of the factors influencing the martensitic transformation and how it can be generally controlled by these factors, across various alloys is studied systematically. The ultimate aim of this research is to develop a thermodynamics-based model to describe and predict the martensitic transformation behavior considering all governing parameters, to be later used to design alloy compositions and processing.
