As more and more sensors are developed, people may wonder what they are used for and how they affect our lives. As someone passionate about chemical sensing, I believe this technology has the potential to revolutionize our lives in many ways.

Chemical sensing can provide numerous benefits, such as improving our health by developing accurate sensing concepts. For instance, by using sensors that analyze information related to our health, such as glucose, lactate, and antibodies test, we can take appropriate measures to improve our health. Additionally, chemical sensing can help us protect the environment by detecting and analyzing toxic components from water, air, or earth to quickly identify environmental hazards and take steps to mitigate them.

In my studies, I focus on developing new electrochemical sensing concepts that provide precise analysis of ions and small molecules in complex matrices, such as biological fluids and environmental waters. My goal is to implement these new sensors into decentralized analytical platforms that can operate in healthcare and environmental analysis domains. For example, wearable sensors in the form of skin patches and submersible probes can help us live more comfortably and automatically. Our group has developed a lactate sensor for continuously measuring sweat lactate concentration, which has proved beneficial for athletes in training themselves. Now, I am working on developing an electrochemical sensor for quicker and more precise phosphate detection to monitor water quality and prevent eutrophication.

I am enthusiastic about the potential of chemical sensing to improve our lives. To provide more concrete examples, I would like to mention the development of chemical sensors for monitoring air quality, detecting toxic gases, and measuring water quality. By improving the accuracy and precision of these sensors, we can better understand and control our environment.
