About me
Meike received her bachelor's degree in Biomedicine from Karolinska Institute (KI) and a master's degree in Biomedical Engineering from ETH Zurich, with various internships in the Molly Stevens group (Karolinska Institute), Stricker Lab for Epigenetic Engineering (LMU Munich), David Lane Lab (Karolinska Institute), Tissue Engineering and Biofabrication Lab (ETH Zurich), Macromolecular Engineering Lab (ETH Zurich) and Mooney Lab for Cell and Tissue Engineering (Harvard University). Together, these experiences shaped her strong interests in tissue engineering, biofabrication, organ-on-a-chip systems and neuroscience.
As a doctoral student in the joint KI-KTH doctoral program for Medical Technology, Meike works under the supervision of Prof. Frank Niklaus and Prof. Anna Herland to develop an in vitro model of the neuromuscular junction, with further work on the development of biomaterial patterning using cavitation molding, vascularization and iPSC differentiation protocols to realize this goal.
