Bertram Steininger

I am an associate professor of real estate and finance at the Department of Real Estate and Construction Management and am associated with the cross-disciplinary research center Digital Futures (KTH, SU, and RISE). My quantitative-oriented research within real estate and finance focuses on:

• artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), FinTech/PropTech, and tokenization in finance and real estate
• natural risk and sustainability in finance and real estate
• direct and indirect investment vehicles (REIT, REOC, funds, crowdfunding)

I am the director of studies of the international master's program in Real Estate and Construction Management and managing editor of the German Journal of Real Estate Research. I have published among others in the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, Journal of Housing Research, Journal of Property Investment & Finance, Journal of Real Estate Portfolio Management, Journal of Portfolio Management, Journal of Business Ethics, European Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Research, Journal of Business Economics.

My motivation to work in academia is to fascinate people about science, broaden their knowledge, and enable them to put it into practice.

I understand the research and the teaching in real estate and finance as an entity that derives its foundation and conclusion from theory as well as from empirics. I cooperate with many international researchers embedded in different research associations and groups (e.g., EFA, EEA, ERES, ReCapNet, ARES, and AREUEA).
