Postdoc in Bio-Based Functional Carbon Materials

Job description

The position involves experimental research on bio-based functional carbon materials, including biochar, graphite, graphene and activated carbon. The work covers material preparation and modification through thermal, catalytic, activation and purification processes, followed by structural, chemical and functional characterisation. The researcher will also be responsible for operating and maintaining relevant laboratory equipment and analytical instruments.

The position includes supervision of master’s and undergraduate students, contribution to scientific publications and research proposals, and some administrative support related to the research activities.

Qualifications

Requirements

• A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
• Good knowledge of English, both spoken and written as it will be required in daily work.
• Experience in biomass conversion, catalytic graphitisation, carbon activation, purification or exfoliation.
• Experience with characterisation methods such as Raman spectroscopy, XRD, SEM/TEM, BET surface-area analysis, TGA or elemental analysis.
• Experience in supervising undergraduate or master’s students.
• Experience in electrochemical testing, adsorption studies or other application-oriented evaluation of carbon materials.

Preferred qualifications

• A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
• Experience in supervising master’s or undergraduate students.
• Experience in participating in or leading research projects.
• Knowledge of advanced characterisation techniques for carbon materials.
• Experience in research-related administrative tasks, such as project coordination and reporting.
• A strong record of scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals.
• Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality

About the employment
