PhD student in Learning & Control of Networked Cyber-Physical-Human Systems
School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at KTH
Project description
Third-cycle subject: Electrical Engineering
The Division of Decision and Control Systems is looking for up to two doctoral students with a strong background in control systems, mathematics, and modeling, and with a keen interest in network theory. The project lies in the intersection of network dynamics, learning, and control and aims to address theoretical challenges within networked cyber-physical-human systems (CPHSs). These systems are characterized by humans in interconnected communities making decisions while interacting with a cyber-physical or control system, and applications include complex socio-technical systems such as smart cities. The project will include learning complex dynamics from big data and rigorous characterization and (data-based) modeling of decision-making dynamics over networked CPHSs, in addition to the development of novel tools to design and assess the impact of control strategies or interventions.
Supervision: Assistant Professor Angela Fontan, Professor Karl Henrik Johansson
What we offer
- The possibility to study in a dynamic and international research environment in collaboration with industries and prominent universities from all over the world.
- A workplace with many employee benefits and monthly salary according to KTH’s Doctoral student salary agreement.
- A postgraduate education at an institution that is active and supportive in matters pertaining to working conditions, gender equality and diversity as well as study environment.
- Help to relocate and be settled in Sweden and at KTH.
- The Division of Decision and Control Systems conducts, among others, fundamental research in networked control systems. The PhD project will include potential collaborations with the KTH Live-in Lab and involvement in experimental design. Moreover, given the natural interdisciplinary aspect of the proposed network perspective for CPHSs, collaborations with scientists from other disciplines will be encouraged.
