On this page, you can track the course's development over time. Once the course analysis is published, data for each course offering is displayed, including the number of registered students, course results, and planned improvements for the next session. All course syllabuses and course memos are shown on the page Archive.

The information can help prospective, current, and former students with course selection, or to follow up on their own participation. Teachers, course coordinators, examiners, program directors, and others can use the page as a resource for course development.

2025

Spring 2025-60080 ( Start date 14 Jan 2025, English )

Changes planned for the next course offering

-We will continue to improve lab assignment and project description. For example, many students didn’t know the meaning of “parsing” when they were asked to parse received data in one of the labs (a concept that should have been introduced in previous programming-related courses). -We will continue to develop lecture material. For example, even more emphasis will be put to conversions between analog and digital signals within sensors and in microcontrollers, through more examples, as well as design methods for the project. -We will encourage students to sign up to Middla drop-ins to do ideation (not just making) with one of the teachers. -We will echo Middla rules from the course itself, to encourage students to follow these rules, as this year some of them ignored the Middla manager’s directives about who has access when and under which conditions. -I am considering a change in the grading criteria for PRO1: Making the video documentation a P/F criterion, rather than P+/P/F. In this way, an A in PRO1 would be individually achievable via the (still optional) individual quizzes. FUNKA adaptations would of course be applied, e.g. flexible deadlines for quizzes. -The first catch-up lab session will happen after the deadline for the last lab, so that students make the most out of it. -A deadline for re-submitting all unpassed LAB1 assignments (post formative feedback) will be set and emphasised, to encourage students to be done with LAB1 by the time the examiner does summative feedback of projects and labs.

Changes implemented to improve the course include: - proposing and getting approved changes in the syllabus (simplification of the ILOs, and making seminar attendance mandatory) the previous semester; - improving the Kurs PM and publishing it by the beginning of the course; - adding resources on Raspberry Pi; - adding references and videos to inspiring novel sensors and actuators; - adding a practice quiz to help the learning of the theoretical aspects of the course; - adding an optional field in each assignment so that students can critique the description (asking them to report if they had struggled with a specific part of the description –not with the solution– and why); - allowing the student group to decide on when they wanted to have the final deadline for their iterated deliverables post-presentations; - adding in-class exercises to the seminars, and in general delivering the content of seminars in more depth; - improving the explanation of the grading criteria for the project, so that they were aligned with the updated ILOs.
