Transport and sorption processes in an electric field

The aim of the project is to develop a method whereby the transport and sorption properties of a sorbent in a porous medium can be assessed much faster than conventional methods allow.

Using electromigration as the primary transport mechanism instead of diffusion does this.

The specific project is to apply the method on porous rocks. This is of large interest for the siting of nuclear waste repositories in deep rock formations and to contaminant spreading in the environment.
