Horizon 2020 FibreNet project – Fundamental Mechanisms of Paper Dry-strength Agents
The objective of this project is to get a better understanding of fibre and strength chemistry interactions and how this influences the dry strength of paper. Specifically, we would like to develop a holistic understanding on the application of chemicals for the strength improvement of paper from both molecular and macroscopic aspects.
Furthermore, we would develop and apply the methods for studying the influence of chemical additives on both out-of-plane and interfacial shear strength in paper. Exploring the influence of the fibre network and production process on the performance of chemical additives as strength enhancer will be performed from both industry and acdemia sides, which is also one of the highlights of this project.
