Application for courses for doctoral students from other universities
If you are a doctoral student from another university you can apply for a doctoral course at KTH. You need permission from the course responsible and the correct documentation. You also need access to BankID or present an ID physically on campus to activate your KTH account before studies start. If you do not have BankID or can visit campus, you can not take a course at KTH.
1. Find your course
You can find all doctoral level courses offered by KTH sorted per school or search freely among all courses .
2. Contact the course responsible
Contact the course responsible to ensure that the course is available and that you are allowed to take the course.
3. Submit the required documents
Submit the required documents to the doctoral education support at the school that is responsible for the course.
- The completed form Application for admission to third-cycle course at KTH, for doctoral students from other universities .signed by you and the course responsible.
- Registration certificate from your home university (if your admission is not registered in Ladok).
4. Await admission and activate a KTH account
Once you have received confirmation of admission from the doctoral education support, you can activate your KTH account and register for the course. You can obtain a KTH account with Mobile BankID or by visiting KTH's campus. If you do not have Mobile BankID or cannot visit KTH's campus, you cannot start the course. Registration is done in Ladok for students. You can also get help from the School’s administration with registration if necessary.

If the course uses the learning platform Canvas, you should gain access to the course as soon as you are admitted and registered. If you do not automatically get access to the course in the learning platform Canvas despite course registration in Ladok, contact it-support@kth.se .
