Australia: University of South Australia

University of South Australia is the largest university in the region of South Australia. Situated in the coastal city of Adelaide, one of the most affordable cities in Australia, it offers a good study area for more than 32,000 students, of which more than 6,000 students are international.

Adelaide University from spring 2026

From January 2026, the University of South Australia and the University of Adelaide will merge into the new joint institution, Adelaide University. In this application round for 2025/26, you can only apply for autumn 2025 places. Places for later academic years will be posted once this is information is available.

Note: Courses within Business are open to exchange students, if they fulfill the prerequisites. An additional insurance, if staying in the country more than two weeks after the exchange studies have been finalized, is required. As an exchange student, you need to pay an administrative fee, Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF), approximately 163 AUD per semester.

Exchange opportunities

Number of spots: One autumn semester 2025 spot for Architecture students; one autumn semester 2025 spot for other students.
Grade requirements: No. A minimum of one VG from one of the courses from upper secondary school is required; if the Leaving certificate is older than five years, it is required to make a test at the KTH Language Division to submit to the application material to the university.

Increased costs for student visas for Australia

On 1 July 2024, the Australian Department of Home Affairs announced an increased cost for student visas for Australia. The student visa fee is now AUD 1600.00 (~EUR 1000). Australian universities are working together to highlight the impact on exchange students who plan to study in Australia.
