Space systems in focus at this year's Space Rendezvous
Space systems and what it takes to work as a space engineer is the theme of this year's Space Rendezvous, which will be held on 31 October at Electrum in Kista.
"We want to show what a space engineer needs to know. Then there will be a lot of interesting lectures that you can listen to. It is also a perfect day for networking," says Carl-Mikael Zetterling, professor at KTH.
Space Rendezvous is a recurring event around the Swedish space industry. This year, two strategic innovation programmes are involved; LIGHTer, a strategic programme for lightweight technology, and Smartare Elektroniksystem, which also sponsors the event.
"For us, the event is important because electronics is both a crucial and enabling technology in space systems, and highlight an exciting and fantastic application area," says Maria Månsson, Deputy Programme Manager at Smarter Electronics Systems.
"We look forward to showcasing examples of lightweight technologies in space applications and sharing what we do in LIGHTer," says Christian Olsson, Director of LIGHTer at RISE.
Several interesting programme items
During Space Rendezvous, Sven Grahn, who has built several of Sweden's satellites, will give a talk. The Arctic weather satellite developed by OHB will also be presented and Oxeon, which has been involved in developing materials for NASA's Mars Helicopter Ingenuity, will present about the new and driving industry for lightweight solutions, in addition, there will be talk about the balloon that studies black holes.
"Space Rendezvous is an event for everyone. And we want as many people as possible to come and discover the technology behind space systems. Then we will also offer space cake," says Marco Giertz at Visit Kista.
