Continued funding for the KTH Human Protein Project
KTH’s research project aimed at mapping all human proteins, the Human Protein Atlas, has received financing for another five year period. The Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation has taken a decision to allocate the project an additional MSEK 450.
This is the third time that the KTH Human Protein Project has received a grant from the Wallenberg Foundation, which has now contributed approximately BSEK 1 to the largest Swedish research project ever. The project’s aim is to define and locate human proteins.
“This project is a great source of pleasure to us. We have supported it for five years and have now taken a decision to continue. It is a fantastic project that has been much talked about internationally,” says Erna Möller of the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation.
The fourth version of the Human Protein Atlas was presented in August this year. Then approximately 25 percent of the human proteins had been mapped. The project is led by Mathias Uhlén, Professor at the School of Biotechnology at KTH.
