Spanish at KTH
Spanish is the official language of 21 countries, in which knowledge of the language is essential for successful communication. The Spanish courses offered by KTH are internationally oriented, which facilitates academic exchange as well as opportunities for internships and studies in Spain and Latin America.
Why learn Spanish?
Economically, Latin America and Spain constitute an attractive market with prospects of short- and long-term growth and development. In addition, the areas provide a range of opportunities for innovative and sustainable technologies designed for a better utilization of natural resources.
The main industries are manufacturing, mining, the automotive industry, steel and cement production, along with the chemical industry and the energy sector. The main energy resource is oil, although renewable energy sources such as wind and solar energy, hydropower and biofuel production are receiving more and more support.
The Spanish-speaking countries’ geographic positions, with their long coasts, many ports, and strategic location of major cities in large trade areas, provide an excellent base for trade with the United States and Asia.
