GELS Network Gears Up for Training
Stockholm, 6 September 2023 - In an initiative to strengthen practical scholarship and foster international collaboration in language and communication education for engineering students, the Global Engineers Language Skills (GELS) network, co-founded by Jamie Rinder, is preparing to host a key training event and conference on 6-8 September.
60 attendees from 30 universities
The event will see KTH language and communication teachers join forces with approximately 60 attendees from 30 universities spanning Europe, Asia, America, and North Africa. Notably teachers and researchers from the University of Tokyo, a strategic partner for KTH, will be among the participants.
GELS network
The GELS network co-founded by Jamie Rinder, is made up of language and communication (LC) teachers from technical universities and engineering departments all over the world and is dedicated to enhancing LC education across diverse institutions. Their collaborative mission is to address the unique communication needs of engineers within STEM fields.
By fostering a comprehensive understanding of engineers' work and communication needs and norms, the GELS network aims to seamlessly integrate LC training into engineering education. Their aim is to explore and harness the power of technical communication to inspire effective teaching and learning experiences in the LC classroom.
This week's event promises to be a significant milestone in the pursuit of practical scholarship and internationalization in engineering education. The GELS network's dedication to advancing the quality of LC education and promoting global collaboration is commendable and reflects its commitment to shaping the future of engineering communication.
