Marcus Angelin takes over House of Science
The project manager for Researchers' Friday, Marcus Angelin, is the new director of the House of Science (Vetenskapens Hus). The premises will re-open in the autumn.
When still on holiday, the new director of the House of Science started his new position on August 1. However, Marcus Angelin is anything but new – neither at the competence center nor at KTH. He's been at KTH since 2000, first studying biotechnology and then doctorating in organic chemistry.
”All the time, I've had an interest in teaching, something that I have worked with in various contexts", Marcus says.
And teaching is just what the House of Science does best. Here he started as a development manager to create new content for the students. In recent years, he has led the project Researchers' Friday and he has been director Cecilia Kozma's deputy. And now that it's time for the next challenge, the personnel responsibility attracts him.
”We have fantastic employees here – it's our biggest asset. I hope to be able to contribute to the positive atmosphere so that we can continue to do really good things together."
At first, no significant changes awaits with Marcus at the helm; he wants to understand the bits he hasn't been involved in previously.
"Step one will definitely be to try to get the House of Science started again now that the pandemic hopefully is fading out a little. On September 15, we will re-open the premises – if nothing new happens, of course.
Does this mean that you are leaving the Researchers' Friday project?
"I will continue at least until this year's event is over. Then we'll see. Maybe it would be good for the project with a fresh pair of eyes."
