You are writing the cover of your thesis or working on a review article and you’ve put effort into constructing a search strategy that should find the relevant literature. The search resulted in a large number of hits. You might wonder what the next step is. What should you do with the result?

In this workshop we present different strategies to handle a large search result, both manual strategies and strategies where you use tools and programs. The purpose is to facilitate the process of sifting through the relevant articles. If you conduct a systematic review, the focus is on a transparent and reproducible process that does not omit relevant articles. In other literature reviews, the focus may rather be on making the process easier and more efficient.

We will discuss:

  • Setting up a workflow for handling the results

  • Inclusion and exclusion criteria

  • Software to facilitate the screening, for example Rayyan

  • Software for visualization, for example VOSviewer
