Urban Hjärne
Urban Hjärne (1641-1724) was a Swedish writer, physician and naturalist.
Urban Hjärne was active in several different areas where his modern conception of science interacted with an age-old natural science.
He was very interested in hydrotherapy and is known for having founded Sweden's first spa Medevi, north of Motala.
In 1676, Hjärne became a member of a commission investigating witchcraft. He worked towards reducing and, eventually putting an end to the witch trials in Stockholm.
