First call open for new Centre of Excellence in Road Engineering
In autumn 2023, the Road Engineering Competence Centre will develop four research agendas. In parallel with this process, its first call for proposals will open.
The Competence Centre for Road Engineering, funded by the Swedish Transport Administration, announces funding for research projects. The Swedish Transport Administration intends to invest about SEK 40 million (SEK 10 million per year for four years) in research projects that increase competence and knowledge in road technology in Sweden.
Applications must be submitted by 31 October 2023.
The Road Engineering Competence Centre (KCV) aims to ensure a long-term supply of knowledge in road engineering by developing expertise and acquiring knowledge to ensure the possibility of building a robust infrastructure and road management both now and in the future. The long-term funding from the Swedish Transport Administration (see below) ensures the possibilities for investments in recruitment and equipment required for research and long-term knowledge provision and knowledge building in Sweden.
The competence centre's research is structured around calls based on one or more of the following research areas:
- Health, environmental and climate impacts
- Condition assessment and degradation modelling
- Sustainable and resource-efficient roads
- Digitalisation, automation and electrification for a modern road infrastructure
