Towards microscopic models for bicycle traffic simulation
Guillermo Pérez Castro has successfully defended his Licentiate thesis
Towards microscopic models for bicycle traffic simulation. The objective of this thesis is to investigate basic requirements for microscopic modeling and simulation of bicycle traffic. To properly simulate bicycle traffic, we need to understand how bicyclists behave and how they interact with both the infrastructure and other bicyclists.
The continuation of this work will focus on further model development based on deeper analysis of bicyclists' behavior, and the implementation of developed modeling methods. Improved support for simulation of bicycle traffic can be used as an effective tool for planning and development of bicycle infrastructure.
