Published Apr 28, 2017

Punjab University, India, from 27th February - 1st March

Professor Mark Howells was invited to the first symposium on multi-dimensional policy perspectives for the Food-Energy-Water security challenge, held at Punjab University in Chandigarh, India, from 27th February to 1st March. The symposium was motivated by the increasing global concerns on the interconnection between security issues affecting the food, energy and water systems - and of the potential implications that climate change could further represent to these systems. The symposium sessions focused on providing an overall context for the food-energy-water situation and explore how current policy discourses may be lacking to effectively address such nexus security issues. Professor Mark Howells chaired the first technical session and presented open-source modelling tools being developed by KTH-dESA.

The symposium included participants from Punjab University, the Centre for Energy Policy of the University of Technology, Sydney, the Institute of Energy and Climate Research ForschungszentrumJülich (Germany), ETH (Zurich), ITB (Indonesia), Khon Kaen University (Thailand), TERI University (India), and other partner institutes.
