On July 11th, a side event took place at the 36th International Energy Workshop (IEW), where the latest metrics on the OSeMOSYS community and the latest contributions of the community to the code development and its application were presented. On the code development side, the event touched upon the newly developed fast-solving beta version, the three versions in Gnu MathProg, GAMS and Python (all available on GitHub ), the work on CLEW (Climate, Land, Energy, Water) framework modeling and the inclusion of macroeconomic insights. On the application side, the recently published detailed model of Cyprus and the first approach to short-term modeling were presented. During the Q&A session, the discussion focused particularly on the practices to guarantee high-quality standards in the wide open source community.
IEW 2017 took place at University of Maryland, USA, where almost 200 researchers from 20 countries gathered to present cutting-edge work on energy modeling.
