From the development of an open-source energy modelling tool to its application and the creation of communities of practice: The example of OSeMOSYS

A new peer-reviewed paper  has been published in the Virtual Special Issue: Energy & Environment of the journal Energy Strategy Reviews (Elsevier). The paper provides a synthesis of the lessons learnt on the development and applicability of an open source tool, by the OSeMOSYS community. As such, it collects contributions from several authors and institutions which have been working with and on OSeMOSYS in the last decade. The main purpose of this work is to present how an open source community, with structures and rules, is being built around the tool. An overview of key developments and applications of OSeMOSYS since its first publication in 2008 is also given, to serve the same purpose.
The Special Issue 'Energy & Environment' collects contributions from the session 'Energy, Resources and the Environment' at the European Geosciences Union (EGU) 2017 General Assembly  held in Vienna.
