Final workshop on Drina Nexus Assessment

The final results of the nexus assessment of the Drina river basin were presented at the third workshop  hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo from 19 to 20 April 2017. The project aimed to strengthen the capacity of the administrations of the three riparian countries; Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and the Republic of Serbia; to address intersectoral issues and identify mutually beneficial actions to make the current resource management practices more sustainable. The findings of the study, which was started in early 2016, were presented in three thematic groups related to Co-optimizing flow regulation, rural development- including tourism-, and the management of wastewater and solid waste. KTH-dESA researcher,  presented the key challenges and the recommended policy package related to flow regulation in the Drina river basin assessment. The study financed by the Italian Ministry of Environment, Land and Sea, and supported by the UNECE secretariat, focused on the water-food-energy-ecosystems nexus.
