Insights from participants in the first CLEWs School at ICTP in June 2017

As reported in previous CLEWs -News, the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), in Trieste, Italy, hosted the first instance of the Summer School on the Climate, Land Use, Energy and Water strategies (CLEWs) framework in June of this year. The summer school was organised by , UNDP , UNDESA , ICTP  and the OPTIMUS Community . A total of 27 participants from 13 different countries were introduced to the concept of integrated nexus assessments within the CLEWs framework using the modelling tool OSeMOSYS. They were trained in the use of modelling tools for the development of country-wide multi-systems models to inform policy design for sustainable development. The organising committee interviewed some of the dignitaries and participants during the summer school and the high level panel on sustainable development for insights on the experience and knowledge shared during the three weeks of the Summer school. Selected excerpts from the interviews can be found here .
