Bridging the Science - Policy Inteface at EMPA

On January 29th – February 2nd 2018, the first Energy Modelling Platform for Africa ( EMPA ) conference took place at the United Nations Conference Centre in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Energy modelers with a research focus on increasing access to modern energy services in Africa were invited to present their work and share their findings. KTH-dESA was invited to participate, by organizing a number of hands-on training sessions on its open-source energy modelling tool, OnSSET . Government officials from various African countries participated and provided valuable insights in the training process. Organisations taking part included, among others: KTH, OpTIMUS, IDEP, UNDP, UNDESA, WBG, University of Cambridge, AUC, DFID, IRENA, ESMAP, AfDB, IAEA, IEA, NREL, FEEEM, University of Cape town, University of Mauritius, Pan African university, Energy Strategy Reviews.
